DTV Switch Leads to Triple Play, Growth

August 3, 2009

Here is an interesting story out of the Mile High Region.

Azteca America Colorado is the Only Denver Hispanic Television Station with Audience Growth Since the DTV Switch – The Denver Post

The Front Range, mentioned towards the end of the article in the About Azteca America Colorado must be served by low power stations, allowing the

“unique opportunity to continue broadcasting on our analog channels”

Pretty sneaky, but effective. In addition to the analog loop hole, the new digital transmitters yeilds its own triple play: OTA, old sets with converter boxes, and digital cable retransmissions. Nice way to grow the fan base. Who knows, they may even add a mobile DTV to the mix. Stay tuned.
