YouTube Contest Additional Way to Help NBC Marketing, Garner Fame
Chuck, NBC‘s spy show won’t return until January, but leading into the premiere, and through sweeps into March, you can prove you are a fan by doing NBC‘s work for them.
The game is called "Mission: Chuck Me Out" and is located here, designed to track users who mention "Chuck" on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace (so … on Twitter and Facebook, in other words). In fact, every Tweet that mentions "Chuck" can earn the user a point.
via NBC launches ‘Chuck’ game for Twitter, Facebook –The Live Feed | THR.
THR draws parallels to an earlier online buzz generator Fox used for its hit Glee. Chuck has similarities to another Fox show: Dollhouse. Both needed community intervention before renewing. Hopefully Chuck’s fate will be better than Echo’s.
At least NBC is making an effort to centralize the community and give it as much help as it wants in terms of
- embeddable video clips and full episodes
- downloadable wallpapers and icons
- text messaging
- online activities to rally around
All kidding aside, NBC’s marketing gets the idea of social media as a tool to extend its reach. If the community, and all their social networks, is going to help do your work, why not make their job easier?
And that’s not the only online contest leading into the premiere. if you are feeling creative you can also enter the Chuck You Tube contest. Details in the video at the bottom of this post.
If you need to brush up on Chuck, or maybe even you are just getting to know him, and you don’t feel up to streaming free episodes from NBC.com, cable’s Syfy is here to help:
On Thursday, Jan. 7, Syfy runs eight hours of "Chuck" episodes culled from the second season — including the season two premiere and the finale.
Good luck and happy viewing.
