Oprah.com and CNN host a live webcast event tonight at 8PM CST to discuss Oprah’s Book Club 63rd selection Say You’re One of Them. Here’s where you RSVP.
You’re invited to join Oprah and Say You’re One of Them author Uwem Akpan for an in-depth discussion simulcast LIVE from Oprah.com, CNN.com and Facebook on Monday, November 9, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. CNN’s Anderson Cooper will be joining the conversation…will you?
RSVP now and you’ll be able to download the entire first story in Say You’re One of Them for free!
Tonight’s live event differs from Oprah.com’s last webcast back in January in two ways. As evident from the headline, Oprah’s Book Club (OBC) is preparing for a crowd by
- co-hosting with CNN
- adding Facebook
- oh, and “Doors open early—come back at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT”
Thanks to those new partners, you will be able to interact with Uwem Akpan and Anderson Cooper in three different ways:
- chat feature on the Oprah Book Club website
- iReport, “CNN’s user-generated news community”
Oprah.com is joining forces with CNN.com and Facebook to present a live Oprah’s Book Club interactive web event on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. The webcast will be a 90-minute worldwide event, during which readers can submit their questions for the author and potentially be featured during the live discussion. The special online event will be streamed live simultaneously from CNN.com’s video player on Oprah.com and CNN.com and will utilize Facebook Connect, enabling users to comment through their Facebook profiles without ever leaving the live webcast.
Oprah.com, CNN.com and Facebook Join For Global Web Event – Oprah.com
You may find it slightly surprising that RSVP to Oprah’s Book Club Event does not incorporate Facebook Connect. This would allow you, in one fell swoop, to:
- provide Oprah.com with your information
- inform all your Facebook friends about the event
- login to Facebook so you would be ready to chat
- help spread the word for Oprah.
Instead, OBC wants you to join the club using their form. You will receive something your troubles, the opportunity to download the entire first story contained in Say You’re One of Them (there are five in all), as opposed to the 5 minute audio excerpt on Oprah’s blog. Happy viewing!
