That’s right, lead platform. Both the PS3 and XBox 360 will soon have new family members, tipping in at a hefty price tag but with a hard drive to match.
“I am in Los Angeles at a Modern Warfare 2 press event where we just announced the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console. It is available for pre-order today at U.S. retailers, and in other regions later this week. The
package includes the custom designed console, 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers and a standard edition of Modern Warfare 2 for US $399.99.”

One third party vendor that is happy to see the Wii extend its reach will be MediaMall Technologies. Once the beta for the Wii completes, PlayOn software will be on the three major gaming platforms. Combined with their new entry into the Audio Video Receiver (AVR) market with Sherwood, MediaMall becomes a formidable platform for both developers and advertisers.
On its own, the Netboxx from Sherwood could very well redefine the landscape of AVR. As the middle man between your AV components and an HDTV display, it seems only natural that this hub also access the web and serve as an online portal. Sherwood, no newcomer to the world of 7.1 channel receivers, takes a bold step in giving the customer base a product that leap frogs the home network and connects your home theater to the full internet. You do have to look carefully for it since it is almost half the height of other receivers. Keep an eye out for it, nonetheless, all the money you save on game consoles should stay somewhere in the home theater.
