The release follows such 3D theatrical hits as DreamWorks Animation’s Monsters vs. Aliens and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Up in dropping 3D for home release.
Fox and other studios, such as DreamWorks, are not including 3D on these DVD/Blu-ray releases because today’s 3D at home technology does not live up to the quality of the stereoscopic 3D that audiences see in theaters

This will assuage the biggest fears of stereoscopic 3D’s biggest fans. It also allows for a new release once HDTV and Blu-Ray systems that properly support stereoscopic find there way into viewer’s homes. Don’t think these studios are doing it for the greater good. They see dollar signs down the road.
